Mekong Delta is More Than Just a Destination

First we need to know, what is the Mekong Delta; The Mekong Delta is a network of rivers in southwestern Vietnam, between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodia. The river itself starts in the Himalayas and passes through China, Myanmar, Thailand and Cambodia before reaching Vietnam, which partly explains why the waters are so murky. More than half of Vietnam’s rice and fish comes from the delta region. It’s vital to the Vietnamese economy and region is also called the belly of Vietnam..

Life in the area revolves around water, from the famous floating markets to the vast agricultural industries. An amazing variety of fruits, flowers and livestock grow in the region. The Mekong River Delta is the rice basket of Vietnam, providing the sustenance for millions.

Wonderful Homestay in Mekong Delta

Our stay at Mekong Home was one of the highlights of our wonderful month in Vietnam. We stayed for 3 nights which was great as it gave us one day to explore the area by bike and one to do a boat trip. It was lovely to get off the beaten track and slow down. Mrs Van Anh gave us a warm welcome, was wonderful at helping with all our travel arrangements, and we really enjoyed her company. Fabulous food, cooking class experience, foot baths after dinner. Overall exceedingly well looked after and one of our favourite places. Hope to return.

Peaceful and friendly

Peaceful family run retreat. Loved the room with mosquito net and many beautiful touches. The host was extremely helpful with transportation and excursions. I would recommend the bicycle tour and the guided tour by boat which gave us a lot of insight into the region. We originally wanted to stay one night but liked its relaxing atmosphere so much that we stayed three. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners were varied and definitely worth it with a number of different dishes. Everybody was super friendly.

Unbelievable amazing

We found this place accidentally on our long trip with the motorbike through Vietnam. What a unbelievable amazing place!!! Honestly, it was far the best hotel I ever saw in Vietnam.
The mixture of authentic vibes with reduced architecture, extremely nice surrounding and perfect hospitality is absolutely amazing. Arriving and feeling at home. Dinner great, breakfast good. I would give 6 stars if available. Highly recommended for everybody who saw a lot in this world already. This place is a unique gem, unexpected and like a hidden treasure.
