About half of it is a dedicated national park, home to both marine life and mammals, including the endangered Cat Ba langur (also known as the golden-headed langur), civet cats and Oriental giant squirrels. Time is spent to go through rock archways and hidden tunnels to discover the natural beauty of the lagoons. Soak up the sun, take in the stunning views, enjoying squirrel dancing and monkey playing. Our kayak trips get you to places that most people will never see, at which you can enjoy swimming or snorkeling around secluded sandy beaches.

The information below on your itinerary and details are intended to assist you as you consider your travel options for Vietnam with Friends Travel Vietnam. DAY 1: Cat Ba - Cai Beo Harbour - Lan Ha Bay - Dark Cave - Ba Trai Dao Beach
Pick up from meeting point ( meeting point confirm by email)
Get on the mini-bus to transfer to BEO DOCK (Just 5 minutes away from the office)
Get on the boat and start cruising by going through BEO floating fishing village, passing out Monkey island (We don’t stop at Monkey island to avoid the crowds of Vietnamese tourists), keep cruising around Lan Ha Bay to enjoy hundreds of amazing landscapes of limestone islands.
Stop to visit the biggest fishing farm (Spending 20 to 25 minutes to walk around the farm for hunting some pictures of the fishes and discovering how Vietnamese fishermen earn their livings)
Continue the trip by passing out the Buddha Island before crossing the border to get out of Lan Ha Bay and be in Ha Long Bay. Keep cruising along the less touristic parts where you can go sight-seeing to Bai Tu Long Bay. The boat then brings you go up to the North side of the bay and then anchor at a very calm lagoon to have lunch.
Vietnamese food, seafood and vegetarian food lunch on the boat. After having lunch, participants have time to relax by taking part in jumping, swimming or just playing around to take photos with the surrounding landscapes.
Sail the cruise and move to HANG CA AREA where you can do kayaking. Spending one and a half hours on kayaking through DARK CAVE-BAT CAVE-MONKEY CAVE AND BRIGHT CAVE to explore the beauty of the nature in hidden lagoons, enjoy bird-watching, squirrel-dancing, monkey-jumping. After kayaking, we continue moving to swimming area named BATRAI DAO (THREE PEACHES).
Arriving at BA TRAI DAO:
*Anchor nearby secluded sandy beach that separated from the crowds to go swimming
16.15: Move to the floating homestay to stay overnight (The floating homestay is runned by Vietnamese Navy. It’s located in a calm lagoon that is separated from other fishing families. You can enjoy sunset and sunrise from this location).
Check in and relax around the floating homestay.
Have Vietnamese food and seafood dinner in the floating homestay.
Paddle to small areas to enjoy the natural scenaries, you might see planktons also.
Stay overnight at the floating house.
DAY 2: Breakfast - Kayaking - Cat Ba
Rise and shine! Breakfast is served with some free hot drinks.
Start to do kayaking and explore the lagoon.
Go back to the floating homestay to take shower.
Head back to the harbor by a high speed boat.
Have lunch at the most famous local restaurant.
The trip ended. Drop off at Cat Ba Vision office.

You will see that the pick-up and drop off time are well noted in the cruise itinerary. You need to be ready at our office in Cat Ba before bus departure time to the harbor at 8.00AM for boat cruising.

Not being on time or being present is seeing as non-shown up!
The cruise trip will return to the harbor by 11 AM or 12 PM on the last day of the trip and you take bus back to Hanoi depart also from the same place at 12.30PM.

WHAT TO BRING
Most of the cases, Halong Bay will be a side trip from your grander voyage to Vietnam. If possible, leave your luggage with a hotel (if trusted) and bring only day pack with you to best enjoy the trip. Take into account that you will need to carry them onto the shuttle bus, then onto the deck, then from the deck back to land. The lighter you pack, the better. Below are a few tips for you to pack smartly.
Travel documents: These are essential and you may be denied boarding without valid documents such as passport and visa.
Clothes: You will need at least 3 set of clothes: for casual day wear, for evening wear and for swimming if you plan to do so. If you travel between May and October, it is fine to bring shorts and skirts and short sleeve shirts. For the rest of the year, bring extra sweaters since Halong Bay can get quite cold. In December and January for example, bring some light jackets.
Water bottles: Although the cruise will have water ready for you, some shuttle bus will not have them. Keep yourself hydrated all throughout the trip to best enjoy it. Please note that water will not be complimentary.
Footwear: Sandals and walking shoes are both fine though the frequent exposure to water may make your feet wet and stinky with high capacity shoes. Sandals, on the other hand, may make you feel uncomfortable walking insides the caves or when you climb the rock to the top of some grotto's.
Electronic device: Camera is another essential item on your to-pack list. Charge the battery to full before you leave Hanoi and always leave them charged when you are in the cabin. There are so many things in Halong Bay to capture photos of and you do not want to miss the opportunity. Bringing the laptop or expensive device with you to Halong Bay may be better than leaving them at the hotel back in Hanoi. Always keep an eye on your personal belongings to minimize the risks. Unless otherwise noted, all cruises on our website are equipped with wifi facility for you to keep in touch with friends and relatives.
Others: A raincoat will be helpful during rainy summer months. The cruise will have an umbrella ready but it does not hurt to bring your own. Sunglasses and sunscreen also work great for the sunbathing moments on the top deck of cruise and junks. Bring your medication if required by the doctor. If you are seasickness, stock up on pills.
